Post-Roll done right

I look at Wallstrip through my google reader, and pick out the episodes that seem to be interesting to me.  Today, I happened to pick Lindsay's interview of Om Malik, a friend of a friend of mine, and it was fun to watch.  At the end of the interview, there was a post-roll for OptionsXpress, ( look how effective, I didn't even have to watch it again to remember the sponsor, and I dug it enough to link to the sponsor)  What was great about it was the outtakes-during-the-credits effect, interspersing the normally boring founder-as-spokesman ad spot with bits of Lindsay fantasizing about him.  Hilarious and totally effective.

I remember being at FOOA a couple months ago listening to Jay Adelson showing an ancient clip of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble endorsing Winston cigarettes, in a back to the future type riff on what was going to be the new model for ads in web content.  The very creative way that Wallstrip put this post-roll together bodes well for the web ad ecosystem containing many models.  Bravo Wallstrip!

We're also seeing a lot more of Lindsay too, she's showing up in birth control pill ads now!  That one was less effective, a traditional 30 second TV spot that I can't remember the brand, I just remember Lindsay, ah, Lindsay...
